Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena, Colombia

Walking down the narrowed streets  of  Cartagena’s colonial walled city one can’t help but to think about the history behind this UNESCO site.  Cartagena’s colonial walled city is filled with old world charm.  Every where you turn, you are encountered by architecture that takes you back to hundreds of years.   Due to the fortification, much of the old city has been well preserved.

We spent three nights in Cartagena, Colombia.  It was such a treat!  We walked everywhere and part of the adventure was getting lost.

We stayed at Ananda Boutique Hotel.  This charming hotel is  located in a great location of Cartagena’s colonial walled city.  Read what others have to say on Tripadvisor.

On our short three day trip we did A LOT  of walking!   We tried different restaurants, ice-cream shops and dessert shops. Everything was amazing!  The horse carriage tour of Cartagena during the evening hours made a  romantic outing that I’ll remember for many years to come.

Cartagena’s beaches are not far from nice. We decided on a day tour to Islas del Rosario. To get to Islas del Rosario we had to take a boat.  Tickets were around $70 American dollars.  With lunch included and about 4 hours on the beach, Islas del Rosario was well worth the trip.

Tips: I felt safe walking down the streets of the old city. However, do not walk around with jewelry or bags that would attract local thieves.
